My dad’s neurologist told him once: “You stop walking, you stop walking”. We’re turning this around to “You keep walking, you keep walking.”
My father has made incredible steps forward in learning ways to continue walking. We’ve learned that if he focuses on each step, one step at a time, he can move his legs quite well. Once he gets ahead to looking beyond that, he freezes or struggles to move his legs.
Below is a video he uses often that supports him in being deeply aware of his movement, of his steps, and of himself, and letting go.
And here’s a few bits of inspiration offered by Thich Nhat Hanh, in the same spirit of finding the fullest moment in each step.
